A beautifully preserved piece in excellent condition, despite its age. Traditionally, carpets like this were often hung rather than placed on the floor, which has helped maintain its quality over time. The wool has become exceptionally soft with age, giving it a character and feel rarely found in newer pieces. Featuring fine colours, intricate weaving, and high-quality wool, this is a remarkable example of Turkmen craftsmanship from the Russian period.
*For this video, we are referring to this piece as a Russian–Turkmenistan carpet. We recognize the long and complex history of Turkmen weaving. At the time this carpet was made, Turkmenistan was under Russian rule. Today, Turkmenistan is an independent nation with its own rich weaving tradition.
